Robert Nervo

Bio

Rob has been in the home medical equipment industry since his parents sold their home and bought the little medical company in downtown Akron in 1976. The family lived above the store for three years as the company grew. Working full time during high school, Rob learned every aspect of the company, from managing the oxygen trans-filling plant, to taking over for his father in 1989, and growing the company from a local store to a state-wide provider, with seven locations and multiple product lines including a custom seating system, a hospital rental program, an ambulatory sleep program, and the largest retailer of medical equipment in northeast Ohio.

Rob grew Akron Cleveland Home Medical Company from $3.7 million to $14.5 million, and ranked 11th nationally by Home Care 100. After selling Akron Cleveland Home Medical in 1997, Rob took on the role of Senior Vice President of Operations with Health Care Solutions out of Ann Arbor Michigan. Health Care Solutions became a multi-state provider under Rob, as he managed all phases of 17 locations in 4 states: Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey; and grew revenue from $47 million to $120 million. After leaving HCS in 2001, Rob took over his father’s racecar chassis company, and increased revenues there over 400%, as he continues his strategy of building relationships with national companies, and improving customer brand loyalty by providing superior service and products.

He was recruited back into the healthcare industry to fill a need with CornerStone Medical, SUMMA HealthCare’s HME company, based on his reputation within the healthcare industry. After working at CornerStone for six years, doing what he does best-grow revenue, maintain profitability, create and nurture relationships, and build customer loyalty- Rob knew it was time to create his own company that could be responsive directly to the patients he had supplied and served for the past 30 years so he founded a home care agency that rapidly grew to be in the top 5% of all home care agencies nationwide by hours. Throughout his experience over the past 10 years in home care, Rob realized a new solution was needed to serve the massive caregiver labor shortage, OKVC is it. When Rob is not managing his home care agency and supporting the OKVC team, he is enjoying time with family (especially enjoys hanging with his baby grandson), watching races, landscaping, or taking some time off in Florida.
